Infrastructure Engineer
The Role
Here at SecureCloud+ we are seeking a highly skilled Infrastructure Engineer to join our team based out of our Stoke on Trent site.
The Infrastructure Engineer will play a key role in building and maintaining our infrastructure, ensuring its reliability, scalability, and security. This role requires significant experience in infrastructure build, virtualization, documentation, and problem-solving, with a focus on driving innovation and continuous improvement.
As part of this team you will be helping the company to stay ahead of the competition by building new and innovative products, which have Security, and user experience at their heart. Building proof of concepts, trialling and undertaking reviews of new tools and applications to assess their suitability and potential value to the organisation.
Role Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Design, build, and maintain physical infrastructure components, including servers, storage systems, switches, and firewalls.
- Deploy and manage virtual infrastructure components using VMware technologies, including ESXi, vCenter, vSAN, and Horizon.
- Configure and manage Active Directory (AD), Domain Name System (DNS), and Certificate Authority (CA) services.
- Take high-level designs (HLDs) and develop and maintain low-level designs (LLDs) for infrastructure projects, ensuring clarity, completeness, and accuracy.
- Document configuration settings, procedures, and best practices to facilitate knowledge transfer and troubleshooting.
- Manage and administer Windows Server environments, including installation, configuration, and maintenance.
- Demonstrate the ability to solve complex technical problems independently, using a systematic and analytical approach.
- Take ownership of tasks and projects, driving them to completion with minimal supervision.
- Familiarity with Linux operating systems and experience in Linux server administration.
- Supporting our platform automation efforts through the development of PowerShell scripting for automation and task automation.
- Deploying through containerisation technologies such as Kubernetes and Docker.
Education and Experience Requirements
As the Infrastructure Engineer you will have:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Significant experience in infrastructure build, including physical and virtual components.
- Proficiency in VMware technologies, including ESXi, vCenter, vSAN, and Horizon.
- Strong documentation skills, with the ability to create and maintain high-quality technical documentation.
- Hands-on experience with Windows Server administration and management.
- It is critical that you have excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Preferable: Experience with Linux operating systems and PowerShell scripting.
- Awareness of cloud infrastructure platforms such as Azure and AWS, and containerization technologies such as Kubernetes and Docker.
UK Security Check (SC) clearance is required for this position. Candidates must possess or be eligible to obtain SC clearance, with a view to obtaining UK Developed Vetting (DV) clearance as required.
